Real Estate Professional

Rob LeRoy

I write about and sell real estate. I work primarily as a buyer's agent in Bellingham and the Seattle metro area. I write about real estate and life in the Northwest, posting primarily to blog sites like www.TheRealEstateNovelist.com, my personal site, as well as to public sites like activerain.com and realestate.bellingham.net My articles tend to be about the home-buying process or the Bellingham real estate market. In particular, I like to write about my favorite parts of town, like the Bellingham waterfront, Fairhaven condos, and Lake Whatcom waterfront.

I'm a big fan of Bellingham live music and micro-brews, both of which appear quite often in my writing. I take a laid-back, practical approach to my work, my writing and my life. It has always been my philosophy that life is best when you can find the humor in it all. Whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger, I always say...

I spend quite a bit of time coaching other real estate agents, artists, and small business owners on modern, social-media-based marketing opportunities. In particular, I help them to integrate sites like Facebook and Twitter into their marketing plans, and to understand the power of personal branding.

For side-projects, I do event and party planning. Booking venues, bands, organizing themes and guest lists, etc. I've got about a dozen significant projects under my belt, usually birthday parties and small corporate events.

In my free time I play my guitar, hike in the hills, and spend a lot of time at the gym- mainly to offset my micro-brew hobby. I travel whenever and wherever possible, and I am always excited to meet new people, read more books, and learn more about real estate, social media, and the world, in general.

As anyone who has ever bought or sold a home will know, there are a lot of details, and a million things that can go wrong, all of which can contribute to an incredibly stressful atmosphere, if not properly handled. I pride myself on my ability to carefully, clearly, and concisely explain the process to my clients, and to always keep a cool head if things get tense. It is my goal to make the home-buying process feel fun and exciting for my clients. I have never thought of myself as a salesman, but rather as a service provider, or maybe a glorified tour guide. While I must admit that I know what I'm doing, I make it a point to take a laid-back approach, never to present myself as pretentious or arrogant about what I know or what I've accomplished. I also never wear ties.

I work with the agents here at eXp Realty because I thrive on the team dynamic and find myself to be much happier when I have an open forum in which to share and receive ideas, jokes and stories. I am best at what I do when I'm having fun doing it. This is a fun group of people to be around, and thus we are successful. Also, in case I wasn't clear, I don't EVER wear ties. It's just not how I work. Rob LeRoy | Create Your Badge

Bellingham Cracks Down on Parking Misfits

I went to court today. Not for the first time…probably not the last. It was a matter of principal, and in matters of principal I am prepared to throw down whatever gauntlet is required to guard against offense, regardless of magnitude. Justice must be served, and our rights as citizens must be protected. As Thomas Jefferson once said, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time... [Read more]

Check out the Community Boat Center in Fairhaven

Bellingham Bay and the nearby San Juan Islands are well known to be among the best places in the World for kayaking and small-boat sailing. It is no surprise then that Bellingham, with its  miles of urban waterfront, offers superior access for intrepid sailors, rowers and “yakkers”, as I’ve just decided to call them. Tucked away between the Alaska ferry terminal and a small tidal... [Read more]

Bellingham’s Community Bike Shop: The Hub

Do you like to wear a dress over your corduroy pants? Do you have greasy, matted up hair that qualifies as its own ecosystem? Do you think that voting during a Presidential campaign is a waste of time because the American system of government is set up in such a way as to present a false-choice between two nearly-identical evils? If so, then you probably already know about “The Hub,” and... [Read more]

Pop quiz: Raise your hand if you actually know what Cinco de Mayo* is all about. Come on, let’s see ‘em!  …That’s what I thought. *That’s “5th of May”, for those of you who don’t speak Spanish The Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo is about more than just margaritas and buckets of Corona…not that you’d know it by watching the hoards of drunken... [Read more]

Tony’s Coffee, the Best in Bellingham…and Beyond

If you were to ask a certified coffee aficionado (like me) about where to find the very best coffee in the known Universe, you would very likely hear “Tony’s!!!!” blurted back at you before you’d even finished the question. There is simply no comparison to be made between Tony’s and any other coffee. It’s sort of like saying there is Earth…and then there are... [Read more]

Bellingham’s Best Cheap Eats: Pel’Meni Russian Dumplings

Chances are, you’ve never had Russian dumplings before. I’ve seen them in only one other place, which is now closed. Pel’Meni’s dumplings are basically peirogis, stuffed with either potato or beef. Ordering lunch doesn’t get much simpler. Served in to-go boxes with a slice of bread and side of sour cream, these make a great on-the-go lunch, or an even better late night... [Read more]

Bellingham’s Best Indie Record Store, Avalon Music

Bellingham, Washington has always been a town that knows its music.  For decades, music friends and fiends have lingered among the bricks and alleys of downtown Bellingham’s many record stores, guitar shops and live music venues… Inevitably, time has taken its toll on the scene and the landscape has changed over the years.  Many of the great bars, record shops and local bands have moved... [Read more]

Take a Hike to Sehome’s Arboretum

365 Things to do in Bellingham: Day 16 Here’s a quick idea for an afternoon hike in Bellingham.  The arboretum atop Sehome Hill comprises 180 acres and features over5 miles of walking trails that wind around the hill behind the campus of Western Washington University, culminating in an 80-foot observation tower at the top.  The picture above is of the view of downtown Bellingham and Bellingham... [Read more]

10 Great Rainy Day Activities in Bellingham

Thanks to happy reader Sonia for submitting the following question, which made it really easy to come up with today’s post! “We’re looking at moving there in the next two years and are curious about  things to do during the REAL rainy season. We live in Florida and have visited the area around Bellingham in the Summer, Winter and Fall.” I’m glad you asked, Sonia. It... [Read more]

Fun Facts About Short Sales

5 Things You Should Know About Short Sales It can be awfully tempting to get excited about “amazing,” “smokin” or “crazy” deals. There are certainly enough people out there blabbering on and on about them, especially in the real estate world.
