Bellingham Real Estate Market Report - August, 2012

Bellingham Residential Real Estate for August 2012 looks like number of sales were up and and  price was up from last year and last month. If you take a look at the absorption rate chart you can see we are leaning toward a buyers market.

There are several factors I think will be driving the market for the next few months. Interest rates are still very low and are expected to stay that way for quite some time. Banks have money and they are lending it. Prices are relatively low and housing inventory is very low, I think these factors will create more demand in the marketplace. I also think that with the presidential election coming up this November things will start to get better in the economy no matter who wins and the market will keep recovering.

Whatcom County Real Estate Market Report - August, 2012

Looks like Whatcom County real estate has turned back up just over $300,000 mark for sold residential homes. So we are up in price a bit over last month and 10.9% over last year.

Interest rates are still  incredibly  low and are expected to remain there for a prolonged period of time. I had a client get a rate of 3.25% on a 30 year loan recently. Banks are lending money again, if you have good credit and a steady job you can most likely get a loan to buy a home. If you're buying in the county outside the downtown area, you could possibly even get that home with a zero down payment loan.

Call me to find out how.

Bellingham Real Estate Market Report - July, 2012

July showed a downturn Bellingham Residential Real Estate. The number of sales were up and but price was down from last year and last month. If you take a look at the absorption rate chart you can see there is a balanced market.

There are several factors I think will be driving the market for the next few months. Interest rates are still very low and are expected to stay that way for quite some time. Banks have money and they are lending it. Prices are relatively low and housing inventory is very low, I think these factors will create more demand in the marketplace. Whatcom County Real Estate Market Report - July, 2012

Looks like Whatcom County real estate has turned back under the $300,000 mark for sold residential homes. The number of sales is up considerably though.

Interest rates are incredibly  low and are expected to remain there for a prolonged period of time. I had a client get a rate of 3.25% on a 40 year loan recently. Welcome to Summer in Washington!

One of my favorite things about this time of years is picking wild berries.  Today I was able to step out  the front door of my home here in Sudden Valley and start picking!  Right now there are plenty of huckleberries just starting to ripen, and there are salmonberries to pick too, which have been ripe for a couple of weeks now.  Both berries provide a nutrient blast to your system, and are good alone or in smoothies, on salads, in jam and sauces.

There are said to be 40 species of huckleberries worldwide, and 12 wild species grow here in Washington.  Huckleberries are high in Vitamin C, B and Iron, and are loaded with antioxidants and anthocyanins. The variety in my yard, which is at a relatively low elevation, is the red huckleberry.  Later in the summer we will travel to higher elevations to pick some of the other varieties in the foothills around Mt. Baker.

Salmonberries, native to the Pacific Northwest, are good for humans to eat, as I mentioned, and are also a good way to attract hummingbirds.  Ripening in mid-June to late July,  their berries provide a good source of nectar for hummingbirds.  Wild berries have long been important in the lives and diets of indigenous people of the Pacific North West.

Cheers to your health, and happy harvesting!

Bellingham Real Estate Market Report - June, 2012

June was a good month for Bellingham Real Estate.  The number of sales were up and the price was up from last year and last month. If you take a look at the absorption rate chart you can see there is a balanced market.

There are several factors I think will be driving the market for the next few months. First thing is interest rates are very low and they're expected to stay that way for quite some time. Banks have money and they are lending it. Prices are relatively low and housing inventory is very low, I think these factors will create more demand in the marketplace. I also think that with the presidential election coming up this November things will start to get better in the economy and matter who wins in the market will keep recovering.

Whatcom County Real Estate Market Report - June, 2012

Looks like Whatcom County real estate had a good month in June the price chart and this number of sales chart have been climbing and are also higher than they were at this time last year.

With the presidential election only four months away I think we'll see some stimulus in the market, no matter who wins. Let's think positive, interest rates are still at all-time low and are expected to remain there for a prolonged period of time. Banks are lending money again, if you have good credit and a steady job you can most likely get a loan to buy a home. If you're buying in the county outside the downtown area, you could possibly even get that home was a zero down payment loan.
