Day 57 - 365 Things to do in Bellingham, WA - Hip Hop or Contra

Day 57 - The Blue Scholars - Looking for something to do this evening. How about a hip- hip concert. The WCC Activities Committee presents Blue Scholars.  “Blue Scholars have emerged out of the erupting Northwest hip-hop scene with soulful beats, poetic yet political rhymes and a reputation for dynamic live performances. With two full length albums and 3 EPs, the group has become one of the top West Coast independent hip hop acts, known for their energetic and always entertaining live shows and a world view that blends the personal and the political, but unafraid to party in the process.”  - The show starts at 8 PM at th Syre Center.

If you don't do Hip-hip there's always a Contra Dance at the Fairhaven Library 7-10 PM: Music by Out of the Wood from Spokane with caller Laura Mé Smith from Seattle.

And For Tomorrow there is the 2010 Sculpture Invitational - Mother's Day Opening at Big Rock Garden, 1-4 pm. I know I've  featured Big Rock not long ago but this is a special show features new works by five regional artists - each already represented in the Park's permanent collection. Participating artists include Don Anderson, Shirley Erickson, Ann Morris, Tracy Powell and Pasha Stinson. You can meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, hear live music provided in part by the Bellingham High School students, and take a selfguided tour of the gardens and it's all free.
