Yes, Whatcom Falls park is possibly the most majestic park in all of Bellingham with miles of winding trails through a lush northwest landscape.  Through these paths lie 4 breath taking water falls, a serene fishing pond, and a moss covered bridge built in 1939 that was constructed out of sandstone from Chuckanut.  If that doesn’t wet your appetite there are 2 playgrounds for kids, a basketball court and a covered rec area for those summer Bar-B-Ques.

Of course, you could opt for something a little bolder (or should I say boulder)  and jump off of the famous Whatcom Falls Cliffs or even better the Whirlpool.  Keep in mind, this isn’t for the faint of heart nor the weak in body as though hundreds of teens and young adults jump the cliffs every year, injuries have been incurred.  Just a little disclaimer! But whatever your reason for coming to this incredible park, you’ll be sure to enjoy some peace and serenity in the great outdoors next door.

One of the few shops in the Whatcom Falls Park neighborhood of Bellingham is Lafeen’s. Their specialty is doughnuts and probably the best in town.

When you walk into Lafeens first thing you see is a large glass counter loaded with a wide variety of doughnuts topped with chocolate, coconut, sprinkles, gigantic maple bars, fritters, bear claws, and even cookies and muffins.

They also offer a good variety of ice cream, sundaes and milkshakes. Then why variety of patrons from schoolkids and college student’s to older folks, and those on their way to work stopping by for coffee and a snack.

There’s a  giant picnic table inside to sit at while you eat your doughnut oar stare at your laptop as their now a WiFi hotspot.

And so the New England-er in me thought, maybe our markets are tidal. There are exact highs and lows, but for the most part, there’s a broad brush stroke to work inside.

More good news?  The homes locally are holding value.  These prices aren’t sea monkeys, and they don’t take a dive after one weekend on the market.
