Boulevard Park in the Snow

Glenn SanfordLast night on the way home from the office it seemed like a good idea to take some snow photos at Boulevard Park and drop into Woods Coffee shop and get a Chai Tea Latte that I really enjoy there...

So with a chained up mini-van Penny and I headed out to Boulevard park to get some photos. Much to my disappointment, though not unexpected since a lot of businesses were closed because of the snow, Woods Coffee shop was closed but the scene around Boulevard Park was beautiful.

For those who don't know anything about Boulevard Park, it sits just below South Hill and North of Fairhaven. It is one of a few waterfront parks in Bellingham. There are beautiful views from Boulevard Park of the Alaska Ferry terminal, the San Juan Islands and to the north on clear days one can see the mountains that form the backdrop of Vancouver BC (Mt. Seymour and Grouse are two of the better known mountains).

As you can see in the photos I wasn't able to get my cup of Joe, but we did see a cross country skier coming from Taylor Dock into Boulevard Park.

We had an opportunity to chat with him briefly about the tin factory that sits at the north end of the bridge at Taylor Dock. We were going to go up and take photos but at 21 degrees it was just too cold to take a peak at some of the tin that still sits just below the old tin factory. Well another day we'll see about getting those photos.

If you haven't stopped into Woods Coffee Shop in Boulevard park on days when it is open do yourself a favor and stop in... The backdrop of Bellingham Bay and how they have done up the coffee shop with an indoor / outdoor fireplace is pretty cool.
