Small homes built on small lots make up the majority on housing in the York Neighborhood giving it a high population density. The affordability of the smaller properties and its location make it an attractive place to live for many people. There is only one open space in the neighborhood, but the narrow, tree-lined streets and sidewalks are busy with family life.

There are businesses and apartments that line the western portion of the neighborhood next to the downtown area. Businesses also line Lakeway Drive in the southern section.

Franklin Park is a small park with a playground and a large grassy field located in the southern part of the neighborhood.
Rock Hill Park is a small open space north of Lakeway that has a basketball court, play field and playground.
