Yes, Whatcom Falls park is possibly the most majestic park in all of Bellingham with miles of winding trails through a lush northwest landscape. Through these paths lie 4 breath taking water falls, a serene fishing pond, and a moss covered bridge built in 1939 that was constructed out of sandstone from Chuckanut. If that doesn’t wet your appetite there are 2 playgrounds for kids, a basketball court and a covered rec area for those summer Bar-B-Ques.

Of course, you could opt for something a little bolder (or should I say boulder) and jump off of the famous Whatcom Falls Cliffs or even better the Whirlpool. Keep in mind, this isn’t for the faint of heart nor the weak in body as though hundreds of teens and young adults jump the cliffs every year, injuries have been incurred. Just a little disclaimer! But whatever your reason for coming to this incredible park, you’ll be sure to enjoy some peace and serenity in the great outdoors next door.

The Puget Neighborhood is located along Lakeway Drive east of I-5. It includes a wide variety of real estate from the hillsides south of Lakeway Drive that provide sweeping views of the Bay to the low, wetland areas along Whatcom Creek. Civic Field, Bellingham’s public recreation complex, is located here and brings in people from all over Bellingham and Whatcom County. The neighborhood has a commercial area nearby Civic Field that includes Lakeway Center, Fred Meyer, numerous restaurants and other businesses. Another development is located along Whatcom Creek and includes industrial, retail and office areas.

The Sunnyland Neighborhood is centrally located in Bellingham and is within close proximity to many downtown public facilities. The neighborhood has a diverse mix of commercial, industrial and residential areas. The northern section of the neighborhood is primarily residential with lower densities in the north and higher density housing to the west. There are many well maintained single-family homes on small lots in the northern area. Many of these homes belong to residents who have lived in the neighborhood for years. Other homes, however, are showing signs of aging and disrepair.

The Commercial and industrial areas of the Sunnyland neighborhood are to the south along Ohio Street and north of Whatcom Creek.
